Basic Motorcycle Maintenance
This is not a course to replace your mechanic. It is a course which enables you to perform basic and routine maintenance on your motorcycle to keep it performing at its best.
Probably because a motorcycle provides a much more tactile experience than driving a car, most riders are keen to get their hands dirty to some extent. Maintenance is something easily achieved without the need for complex knowledge of mechanics. This should not be confused with servicing which should always be completed by a qualified motorcycle mechanic.
Some of the areas covered in this 3-4 hour course are:
- General overview of the bike-
- Using the ‘POWER’ acronym to guide your approach to daily checks
- Checking the parts that can, and do, require adjustment more often than most people think
- Getting a bit more serious-
- Checking brake pads, bearings, leaks
- Physical checks on your motorcycle to ensure it is in top condition
This course will be useful to anyone new to motorcycles and those more familiar might even find some aspects new and interesting.
